MALAYSIA. 31 Aug 2007. The Union Jack for the last time on Aug 31, 1957, and the Federation of Malaya become a sovereign nation. It was renamed Malaysia in 1963. Malaysia has won distinction in its first half century of independence for its relatively stable government, racial and religious harmony, prosperity and development.
From the time our founding father, Tunku Abdul Rahman, first declared independence in 1957, Malaysia has steadily progressed and is now on mark to be a fully developed nation in the year 2020.
